Reading’s ones were at home to Eversley for the return fixture at the home of cricket
1st Innings:
Reading won the toss and elected to bat first. Their innings got off to a slow start as they struggled against disciplined bowling from
Eversley’s arsenal. Waqas Ahmed and Gaajuran Ganagabalan provided some stability at the top, but their efforts were subdued by the consistent breakthroughs from the visitors.
Praful Waghela showed promise with his four boundaries but fell to Noah Vojinov, who turned out to be the difference maker for Eversley with figures of 4 wickets for 21 runs. Vojinov's spell dismantled the middle order without troubling the scorers.
Despite the contributions from Dylan Wood towards the end, Reading were bowled out for a below-par total. The Eversley bowlers, including Kyle Bienefelt (2 wickets for 21 runs) and Ant Muir (2 wickets for 15 runs), ensured that the hosts never gained momentum.
Reading Total: 108 all out from 37.3 overs
2nd Innings:
Chasing a target of 109, Eversley had a cautious start. Jack Ford and Harry Maxfield set a foundation after seeing out the threatening Luke Beaven in the early stages but the introduction of Jack Beaven into the attack changed the course of the innings. Jack’s effective spell resulted in key wickets, including that of Maxfield and Arno Hattingh, both falling lbw.
James Magowan (20 off 79 balls) anchored the innings but struggled to find partners who could stay with him for long. Tom Nichols (19 off 25 balls) looked dangerous, hitting three boundaries, but was dismissed by Yawar Tariq, who delivered crucial breakthroughs.
The lower order faced a disciplined bowling attack, with Aditya Srinivasan chipping in with two important wickets. Despite a gritty effort with the ball from the hosts with contributions all round - it was an effort in vain as Eversley scraped a 1-wicket victory.
In a low-scoring thriller, Eversley held their nerves to secure a narrow victory. The match showcased excellent individual performances, particularly from the bowlers, making it an exciting contest for the spectators.
